MILLINERY MASTERCLASSES WITH DILLON WALLWORK

MAKE HATS WHILE THE SUN SHINES
If you have a passion for making hats, we have the cap that fits.  Millinery Masterclasses at Chateau Dumas offer expert tuition in a well-equipped studio, delicious homemade food and elegant accommodation in an authentic and beautiful 18th century chateau near Toulouse in southwest France.
The tutor for our 2010 Masterclasses will once again be Dillon Wallwork, a millinery master whose creativity has graced the front pages of magazines, framing the faces of some of the world’s most famous women. For more than two decades Dillon worked for one of London’s finest millinery houses, Philip Somerville, specialists in creating hats for Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth and Diana, Princess of Wales amongst others.
Dillon proposes to pass on his skills during three Masterclasses in 2010: one aimed at total beginners and two others for those with previous experience. They are the perfect entree into the art of couture millinery as Dillon guides students through the creative process from inspiration to completion.   The apprentices, working with felt, sinamay and parasisal and usingtraditional blocking techniques, will learn to design, block and trim, adding handmade organdie flowers, exotic feathers or coordinating trim for the final flourish.
These great value, all-inclusive weeks also have time built in for relaxation, visits to local hat factories, including one dating from 1824, a Sunday visit to a charming food and craft market nearby and a wine, bread and cheese tasting led by a sommelier.
The July Masterclass will include a trip to the Estivales du Chapeau, the fabulous
International hat festival which will be held in 2010 from 16-18 July in nearby Septfonds, centre of French hatmaking.

Intermediate Beginner: €1450 per person - full board, tuition, trips and transfers included
